Study to shew thyself Approved unto God, A Workman that Needeth not to be Ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15

Sunday Nights 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Journey is the Sr. High program that Awana offers. It is for kids in 9th-12th grade.

The one big difference with Journey as compared to the rest of the clubs is that we meet on Sunday nights rather than Wednesday nights. One main reason for this is because many of our Journey kids work as LITs (Leaders in Training) on Wednesday nights in our other Awana clubs.

On Sunday nights we meet together for an hour to work on our Bible study books and to have a time in God's Word together based on those books.

Every year we go through a main study and an elective. This year we are studying Main Study 3, 1 Corinthians. In order to complete these studies to earn awards, our Sr. Highers must complete Faith's Foundations(starter booklet), complete both the main study and the elective study (includes Review It questions, Buckle It In sections, memory verses and Scripture reading.) They must also be involved in service and go through a leadership training seminar.

While this is a lot of work, it is very profitable. The lessons in the studies are tremendous and will have long lasting effects. And memorizing God's Word and serving; well I don't think I need to tell anyone how important those things are. And if a Sr. Higher finishes all 4 studies (in addition to finishing 6 previous handbooks in T&T and Trek), they will receive the Citation Award. This is a great honor that shows dedication and responsibility. This also means that they have memorized a great portion of God's Word. Some Christian colleges also give scholarships for those who have received their Citation Award.

In the past, we have also had the opportunity to be involved in Journey Quizzing and Games. These competitions are held against other churches in our area. Our involvement in both of these things depends on the interest of the students.

In addition, once a month on Sunday night we have an afterglow where we stay after Journey and have a time of food and fun together. This lasts until 8:30 p.m. on those nights. And every other month we also try to have a Sr. High activity where we plan different events.

We are looking forward to a great year and if you are in Sr. High we would love to have you join us.
