On September 12, 2007 we will begin our 2nd year of Trek, and we are looking forward to another great year of fun as we study God's Word. This is the 2nd year that 24-7 ministries has provided Trek, and they have some more great stuff this year! I hope you can join us!


What is Trek?

Trek is the new 24-7 ministries program for middle school. We use Trek for our 7th and 8th graders. We meet every Wednesday evening from 6:30-8pm in the parlor at CBC. Our focus is studying God's Word, memorizing verses, and having a lot of fun playing games and hanging out with each other.

The Curriculum

Every new Treker starts out with the entrance booklet called Trek Check. After this is completed, the kids can begin their main Bible study.

This years Trek Bible study is called the Roadsign Series. The first book is GPS (God's Positioning System), and it will take you on an overview through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. The second book is Detours and is a study about how to deal with hard times that we face in life. Both of the books are made up of 12 lessons/units.

Each book contains verses to memorize (guideposts), questions about the study (backtrack), and other questions to help apply the study to your life (power up). They also contain info on the go to explain and define words, backpack stash which involves cool stuff like games and puzzles, and trail signs which give you info on what is to come. In addition, each book has two oasis' which are chapters that review previous chapters. There is also a Trek challenge in each lesson of the first book as well as a section called DNA (come find out what this is). And there is a lot more. This is a great Bible study!

Our Club Night

Uusally, our night is broken up into three sections. We spend time in handbook time, council time, and game time.

Handbook time is when the kids focus on working through there Trek Bible studies. This involves memorizing verses, studying God's Word, and also may involve some service opportunities. To complete the study guide, each child must complete the individual units in the study guide. The kids are rewarded with Trek dollars for completing each unit and they can use these dollars to purchase stuff from our Trek store every few weeks. The kids are also given special awards at the end of the year for completing their study guide.



Council time is a time of Bible study. This year we will be teaching our council times from the Trek Bible studies. Our focus is to make sure our kids understand what they are learning from God's Word. Sometimes we also use short video clips that go along with our study.





Game time is a time to play games (pretty obvious, huh). And you never know what you might end up doing during game time, but one thing is for sure, although it may be humiliating it will also be fun. Come check out what games are going on at Trek this year!




In addition to all of this, you never know what else you find yourself in, from contests and prizes to crazy stunts and games. But one thing is for sure...we WILL HAVE FUN!!
